Porando Kaiko is a poem based on the story of a Japanese military general who travelled from Berlin, Germany to Vladivostok, Russia during the 1890s. He passed through territories that used to be a part of the Kingdom of Poland before it got divided by its neighbours.
The poem warned Japan that it could suffer the same fate as Poland if it did not defend itself against foreign influence and safeguard it's own independence.
