"Mother Anarchy Loves her Sons" (RU: Anarkhiya-mama synov svoikh lyubit) is a song written by The Ukrainian Anarchist, Nestor Makhno. Makhno was the leader of The Ukrainian Black Army during the Russian Civil War.
The Ukrainian Black Army were an Anarchist faction during the 1919-1922 Russian Civil War based in South-Eastern Ukraine. They fought the Russian White Armies, the Communist Red Army, and The Ukrainian Separatists in efforts to establish an anarchist country of "free soviets".
Near the end of the war, they decided to join the side of The Red Army against The White Russians and The Ukrainian Separatists, only to be backstabbed and destroyed afterwards.
Even though the song is Ukrainian, it is sung in Russian. This is because it came from an area in Ukraine where Russian was more commonly spoken.
