Scour the unruly noble Donald Laufenberg's abode in search of the stolen lens of hindsight: A magical artifact made by elves (the short kind) that can give any and all information that could be learned from a past experience you've had.
The caveat to this lens is that the information is useless when applied to the specific given historical event. Like if you total your car the lens could tell you every way the accident could've been prevented but not how to fix it. But if it's already fixed it could also tell you ways you could've done it faster and/or cheaper.
Despite not being immediately helpful the insight learned from the lens can be applied to future similar events, so long as the wielder of the knowledge chooses to apply it. Next time you'll know how not to total your car.
You've been given a scroll by Lord Uncle Ruckus to collect the lens and bring it to him. If you succeed you will be given a personalized reward along with a pardon for any past crimes and debts, and a specially engraved Moissanite Ring. If you come back empty handed you will be an enemy of the Lord and hanged.
The way to Donald's Keep is one full of bandits, forest monsters, natural road blocks, and tiny elves who might be assholes. Throughout it all the beauty of nature cannot be denied, and the strangers who also accepted the scroll may just be your new friends so long as you all make it out alive. IF you can trust them.
