Sapphires, with their deep blue brilliance, have been linked to wisdom, divine favor, and protection throughout mythology. In ancient Persia, people believed the sky was painted blue by the reflection of a giant sapphire upon which the Earth rested. In medieval Europe, sapphires were worn by clergy and royalty, thought to bring heavenly blessings and guard against envy and harm.
