so i was playing around with the volumes of the instruments , and stacking them on top of each other , when i discovered a cool trick that i'm sure could help someone who is interested in making MIDI art.

In order to actually make it work , you have to click the 'show options' arrow , and lock the instrument to get that gradient effect.
