Try this: make a song that changes fluidly many times throughout, feeling natural, but ending different than the beginning. You only get 5 melodies, though. Try using melodies in the background, and repeating them later in the song over the different rhythm section.

Try to tell a story with the music, provide an auditory adventure.

You may use many non-melody sections. Make sure to build these up before changing them at least 3 times, or it may sound static and messy.

You may have very long songs. That is normal. Maybe even see how long you can go without it sounding boring.

This is bassically how I make music. If you like my songs, you may want to try this out

Do not use instrument layers or sound effects until after you have finished the skeleton of the song. YOU STILL CAN USE THEM, but trying to write with layers can be tedious as hell and you tire quicker. Adding them after is far more efficient.

Good luck, I am interested in what will result from this...
I do that all the time. I make the entire song with piano and layer and arrange the end. However I always have counter and harmony parts. So this may not be my cup of tea. I write a lot of melodies
tfw my entire workflow can't exist without adding basic instrument layers, i do admit some people can go pretty effects-heavy that they slow down a ton
If that works for you LucentTear, go ahead
Alex, add as many harmonies and counter melodies as you want, I wasreferring to main melodies
