I'll join the audience.
What kind of challenges will there be? Sound design? Composition?

Challenges are kept secret, but there are a mix of OS and non-OS related activities. Not all will be music-related, though.

If you or anyone here has questions, please either PM me on forums or DM me on Discord (as to not clutter the forum). Thanks!
I'll join!

[Image: avatar_43315.jpg?dateline=1614785533] Hey Online Sequencer!

Today is the first day of the OS games, and with that brings you your first challenge! You will need to work together with your team in order to complete each challenge, and some will be trickier than others.

For those of you without access to Discord, now is the time to get in touch with your team! The official team list is attached below this message. If you have problems with communication, contact steggy via forums.

This week's challenge is more of an introductory week, with an easier theme, and the task is pretty open-ended - so be creative! The goal of this week is to get to know your team and to get comfortable working with them.

From this Monday to Friday, your task is to create a team theme song and a team logo. You will be judged on a criteria of creativity, participation/teamwork, originality, quality, and concept. Each teammate needs to contribute to this, and your theme song should be made using the OS remix system (sequence “based on …”) so we can check and make sure everyone adds! Be as creative as you want, but keep your submissions appropriate, and keep them within a reasonable time limit. Aim for at least 1 minute in length.

Your logo and song will be displayed each subsequent week depending on your team rank, so make them good! Reminder that your submissions are due this coming Friday, November 5 - your team captain will take care of this. Results will be posted on Saturday - see you then, and best of luck!

Hey Online Sequencer!
Congrats on an awesome week 1. Here are the results:
-- In first place, we have team indigo! Congrats!
-- In second, we have a TIE between team hibiscus and team lemon!
-- In fourth, we have team mint
-- In fifth, we have team cerulean
-- In sixth, we have team magenta!
-- In seventh, we have team lime!
-- In eighth, we have team coral!

Congrats to all of the teams! This competition was surprisingly pretty tight, with differences in places being just 0.5 points, so don't worry about your ranks - there are many more challenges to come.

Your challenge for Week 2 is to create a sequence using only one instrument - the instrument that matches your team color! to clarify, a list has been attached below:

team coral: Xylophone
team hibiscus: Smooth Synth
team magenta: 909 Drums
team indigo: Synth Pluck
team cerulean: Electric Piano (Classic)
team mint: Pop Synth
team lime: Electric Guitar
team lemon: Scifi

Due to the nature of this week’s challenge, you will be judged on the criteria of participation, teamwork, creativity, mixing quality (use of markers/panning/EQ), and concept. These may be subject to change.

These instruments were chosen to be similar to your team's color while providing a level playing field for each team. Please direct any questions or concerns to help-questions, or DM an admin if need be!

Remember, your submissions are due by Friday, November 12 at 11:59 PM EST.

Best of luck, have fun, and see you around!

Hey Online Sequencer!
Congrats on finishing week 2. Here are the results:
-- In first place, we have team hibiscus! Congrats!
-- In second, we have team lemon! Nice work.
-- In third, we have team lime!
-- In fourth, we have team magenta
-- In fifth, we have team indigo
-- In sixth, we have team mint!
-- In seventh, we have team coral!
-- In eighth, we have team cerulean!

Congrats to all of the teams! This competition was, again, pretty tight - so again, don't stress about your score.

Your challenge for Week 3 is to create a three-word story with your team - meaning that each person can only type three words at a time. The story should be about your teammates and how you came to be a team - however, it should be funny, creative, and does not have to be true! Feel free to let your creativity and humor loose for this week, because next week's challenge is a little more difficult...

Designated channels in the discord have been made for submissions, but if you are not currently in the discord, communicate with your team about planning! It's highly recommended that each and every team plans out their story before they write it down.

Due to the nature of this week’s challenge, you will be judged based on a community vote which will be held on Saturday in a stage channel. Each story will be read aloud by the team captains, and participants will have an opportunity to "clap" at a story. Whichever story with the most claps will win!

Please direct any questions or concerns to #help-questions (in discord), or DM an admin if need be!

Remember, your submissions are due by Friday, November 19 at 11:59 PM EST.

Best of luck, have fun, and see you around!

Hi everyone! After 8 weeks of challenges, the OS games have finally come to a close. I'd just like to drop a quick thank you to you all, the players, and the audience, for making the OS games what it has been - and I hope you had a good time.

From the staff -
We hope you enjoyed your time in this event and that you guys had as much fun as we did. There were a few, um, bumps in some of the weeks but you all made this happen, and I personally cannot thank you enough.

We want to congratulate everyone first, because let's face it, some of the challenges were a bit rough. Sometimes you may have had an inactive teammate. Sometimes you may have been stumped or out of creativity. Buuuuuut, everyone made it here, so clearly something turned out right. :)

We would now like to announce the winners of the OS Games!

In first place, with a total score of 45 points, is team magenta! Huge congrats.
In second place with a total score of 44 points, is team lemon! Great work.
In third with a total of 41.5 points is team hibiscus! Awesome job.
In fourth we have team mint with 29 points.
We have a TIE for fifth between team indigo and team cerulean - each team bringing 26 points to the table.
In sixth is team lime with 24 points, and in seventh is team coral with 10.5 points.

You all did great! I hope that we will be able to host a season 2 at some point - don't leave the server just yet! Again, please leave feedback for us in the event-feedback channel. Team channels will soon be moved to archive channels, but the community will (hopefully) still be here, and players and audience will get to talk to each other.

Again, thanks a ton for making this little idea into a reality. u all are awesome :)

Happy holidays to those who celebrate, and have a wonderful week/weekend/winter break/new years. <3 see you all around!

Signing off,
The OS Games team
