Okay I've been thinking about some stuff, and I have a few new ideas.

Instrument Color
I realize you may be having trouble finding more colors for instruments. I just had a big brain moment right now. What if you decided to try around with textures on top of notes, instead of just using plain solid colors? You could try around with that, idk what note elements look like code-wise, but I would think that the note name text and expand bar would be on a text layer that could be given a background image or pattern.

Well, anyway, that's just something to think about. I realize that you are running low on colors. I know that Jacob_ doesn't like adding too many more instruments, but we still need to differentiate between classic epiano and new epiano, and classic grand and new grand, and some other instruments also have very similar colors like sine wave and electronic drums.

Here are my sample rough draft images that show what I mean by note textures:

Straight Lines

Diagonal Lines (I like the idea of doing something like this)
[attachment=426]

Also, someone mentioned this before but maybe there should be some kind of 'color-blind' symbol system for people who can't tell the difference between colors. Maybe those symbols could be added alongside Jacob's new idea for having an instruments tool pallet with instrument symbols.

Comments on Sequences
I think that you should let people delete their own comments on sequences. I don't know if this would be an easy thing to do, but from the looks of it, myBB is open-source, so I would hope that it would be easy to let the owners of a comment have the ability to delete them. I also think that the owner of the sequence being commented on should also have the ability to take down comments, should they not like the comment or comments. Just an idea.

Sequence Dates
I think that the original date that a sequence was saved should be saved somewhere and written out someplace. A handy place to put this might be in the settings menu, or in some kind of sequence statistics area. Idk.
(Thanks Alex!, I didn't realize that the original date created could be seen when hovering the mouse cursor over the updated date text.)

Original Sustained Piano
I know that Jacob_ didn't like the original sus piano, but I grew fond of it. I suggest putting it back under tests in the instrument list.
(Thanks guys, I didn't realize that the new Grand Piano sound is still the Sustained Piano)

Just some ideas. Thanks for reading,

if you mean sustained piano as in secret, it's been upgraded to grand piano
I have rebuttals for 3 of these.

1. Deleting comments.

That's a mod power and is used to delete bad chats (comments are chat rooms after all)

2. Original date

Hover over the date icon, it'll show the original

3. Sus piano

It's the imposter. Hiding under the name grand piano. It pushed the old GP under GP classic
Alex is right. I never said I didn't like the original sus piano, not sure where you got that from, But it is indeed now known as Grand Piano.

The forum runs on MyBB but the chat and comments are unique to this website.

Until very recently, only the last updated date was recorded. I started saving the updated date separately from the creation date recently, and even ran a backfill script to guess the creation date based on the sequence ID.

That's actually a good idea.
