Build a foundation first, buildings aren't typically flush with the ground, and having a foundation means you wont have to clear out a ton of dirt for your floor, and will look more realistic.

If your building is a known structure like a castle or cathedral, do some research on the floor plans of those, what the rooms are for, how the roof is held up, etc. and it will be more realistic looking.

Try to avoid making the building lack contrast by, for example, only using spruce wood. Too much of one colour makes the structure boring.

Don't build too small. Try doing the inside first to get an idea of the space the structure will take up, and build the outside based on that.

In real life, gravity exists. Try to show that in your buildings.

Don't make big diamond block cubes with a door.

Using similar blocks on a flat surface can add detail.

Install shaders for instantly better looking game.

Imagine a real person using this structure, and build it based on that.

Count your blocks for long parts so you have consistent lengths and nothing is off slightly.

Try different roof shapes and slopes for interesting results.

Try windows in the roof.

Vertical length makes things feel big.

Dont use flammable roofs.
Isn't that real life as well
