Instead of always seeing all instruments on the screen, it would be good to have a filter to only display one or more instruments.  This way, when editing, the other instruments are out of the way and editing features, such as select, cut, paste are only performed on the instrument(s) displayed.  Is would reduce the clutter.

Ctrl+shift+click the instrument locks the instrument onto the screen and makes it opaque, you cannot touch the instrument when it's locked but you can touch the others, the instrument can be unlocked if you ctrl+shift+click it again
