And if there was a vote mute, then it should be when you do !votemute and it shows a message on the screen, like a pop-up, where you write the reason and show the screenshot for the mods to check, these are both good ideas. RE: Site Regulation Announcement - Benvisions - 12-17-2021 I got a suggestion: Check for hackers. I thought of vote mute as a possible solution in the past because it acts as a deterrent and it actually improves the general experience of chat. If we're trying to make chat more welcoming, then an ignore feature like u mentioned on its own might be counterproductive because it won't immediately solve the problem for new users, and some people might be more inclined to just tolerate the behavior rather than ignoring users they might be friends with because they don't want to be left out of the conversation when people are being civil. I do agree that in practice a vote mute might be a little harsh and it completely depends on how its implemented, but it is a step in the right direction imo. But there's a big chance in my mind that it won't require additional features to just encourage a better atmosphere RE: Site Regulation Announcement - 971nari - 12-17-2021 #OSCRM LOVE THE VOTE MUTES also sorry because ig i was involved in the horrible making of the community, so like, really super sorry to the new users i've traumatized. i'll try to keep my nsfw to a minimum RE: Site Regulation Announcement - Jupie - 12-17-2021 OSCRM <333 RE: Site Regulation Announcement - Jacob_ - 12-17-2021 In case it isn't obvious, the expectation of respect applies to all staff as well. RE: Site Regulation Announcement - cosmicPython - 12-17-2021 To be honest, I have not been great at improving the wellbeing in chat before, and I also have been gone unnoticed for my uncouth actions. I'm not sure why I decided to start with that, but I think we should reward people for sticking to the rules, not just punishing the bad. Like maybe some kind of mod-approved reputational basis -- hey, like the ol' Warning Level, but positive! Maybe we could also have along with the Vote Mute some kind of voted approval to award people with positive rep, and maybe we could have little visual doodads next to people's usernames or more User Groups to determine a general user-class of how much do they stick to the rules and be nice and respectable as an easy reference to determining how well the community views this person. In summary, we should have 2022 OS be more physically awarding for positive actions in Chat and Forums. RE: Site Regulation Announcement - Firebolt391d - 12-17-2021 It's really nice to be able to see this happening. The website and the community has grown a lot over the years, and it's good to finally be able to see it evolving in such a good way. Happy holidays to you all, and best wishes. #OSCRM |
