I believe your description of socialism is a little off. Socialism was actually based around the idea of eliminating social classes, with an end goal of economic related property being owned by the community as a whole (mostly the government though). Communism is closely related with socialism in that it strives to eliminate social classes too, but the main difference lyes in the fact that the land and property is owned primarily by the working class, and not the government.  You are correct about fascism. Fascism is the utter opposite of communism and socialism because of it's dependence on class ranking and a dictator leadership. The National Socialism name is very deceiving as it is actually a form of fascism, as stated by wikipedia in a statement "The term "National Socialism" arose out of attempts to create a nationalist redefinition of "socialism"" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nazism). Knowing this, this basically means Hitler was a Fascist. After some further research, a very plausible reason that Hitler may have opposed communism is due to the lack of central power.  This is possible because socialism and communism are both closely related to populism, which "is a political philosophy supporting the rights and power of the people in their struggle against a privileged elite." (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Populism). Note how it specifically states that is favors the "struggle against a privileged elite". Fascism, on the other hand, has the opposite view. its states "The State's interests require a single, charismatic leader with absolute authority." Knowing that Nazism is derived from fascism, this means a significant function of the government was to have a strong, singular leader. This leads me to believe Hitler did not like communism because it was too far based on the idea of democracy, or more of a "Direct democracy". This is a difficult subject though, as other sources state that Nazism "aimed to overcome social divisions and create a German homogeneous society based on racial purity which represented a people's community" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nazism). This leads us back to a socialist/ communist idea of social equality. Im thinking i guess you could say Nazism was a compromise between equality between the people while the upper, leadership class retained full power over them. idk
