Hi, I'm I3etFI, or Closed Windows on Soundcloud, and I need your help.

I know all you of you love music, that's probably why you guys ever come to this site in the first place. I need your feedbacks on my submission for a remix competition.

Here's the track

https://soundcloud.com/closed_windows/memories/s-AEkvR

I don't need you guys to be all technical and stuff, I just need to know :

- If the song is loud enough (compared to a commercial (professional) EDM track)
- Whether it sounds good or not (I trust you guys with this, and don't worry, I eat criticisms for breakfast Tounge)
- Does it sound distorted (if yes, where?)

Thanks in advance.

I doubt anyone here is a professional EDM artist to make any constructive comments, including me, but I'll try. I hope you like nitpicking

1. In the vocals, you should cut off those "preparatory breaths" that the vocalist makes right before singing, since it sort of feels abrupt (for lack of a better description)
It is particularly noticeable at 0:17 and 2:01

2. Don't know if it's just me, but I can hear these slight clicking noises at 1:54-2:00
The clicking is on rhythm with the music though so maybe it's intentional?? who knows

Can't really think of much else to say, it sounds bretty good to my untrained ears. I once attempted to learn how to use the synthesizers included in FL Studio and it was just confusing as ***** rofl
Also out of curiosity, what's the original song anyway

My excuse for most of that is I haven't polished the song yet. It's still a WIP so things like abrupt vocal and slight distortion will still be there, but thanks a lot for pointing it out. :D

And here's the original song for all those who are curious:

And about the synthesizers, just have fun with em. They might seem overwhelming at first, but after a while, you'll find yourself looking for even more complex plugins XD. If you're talking about Harmor, I would gladly help you with that :>. Still hope that we can do another collab, but with FL studio instead fo this site

The problem I have with synthesizers: I have no idea how to replicate the sound of a synth used in some other song. Copying the styles of other artists has been my main method of learning how2music but the complexity of synthesizers seems to make that nigh impossible

I've messed around with the Harmless plugin (aka the less sophisticated version of Harmor), but I can't seem to produce a sound that I desire; perhaps I just need to experiment more and/ or just switch over to Harmor fug

Another collab would be pretty gr8, but only when I actually git gud at FL

The funny thing is, most "Professional Sounds" out there are made using complicated synthesizers. Of course you will be overwhelmed at first because of how many knobs there are, I used to be just like you too. There are tons of tutorials online, especially for Hamor, since SeamlessR, who's a Harmor enthusiast, has made hundreds of videos to explain the plugin.

The best way to learn how those commercial sounds are made is too download their presets and solve the mysteries using reverse engineering. That's how I learned about Massive.

What I'm trying too say is, don't be too afraid to expose yourself to complicated engines, because the simpler ones can never allow your tracks to reach their potential. You obviously have an advantage thanks to your understanding of music theories, now you just need to work on the technical side a bit, then everything should go your way always Smile

The vocals get drowned out a bit easy, but it's a really good track!

yeah I just watched like 3 parts of SeamlessR's harmor tutorial series
although he tends to be incredibly technical at times I think he breaks it down nicely, now it doesn't seem too hard wew
definitely gonna work on learning how2harmor now

also downloading presets sounds like a gr8 idea that i never thought about, good advice

i have been using FL Studio for more than half a year, and i found out that FL Native Plugins are Meh,
you can create some pretty cool stuff but, not something amazing,
i really recommend Sylenth1, its a good synthesizer with a lot of presets, ( i have 314 soundbanks, don't ask me why ) ( its roughly 4000 presets? maybe more )
and is pretty good for sound design, but if you want to get good at sound design, you should watch sound design tutorials, or how to make that lead from that song, most of these tutorials are on A.N.A, Spire, Massive, Sylenth1, which are pretty complicated, and expensive,
and if you see a knob, that you have no idea what it does, and it does not do anything to the sound, google it,
so if i was you, i would get one of the above, and see tutorials on that, not on harmless Tounge but you can do what ever you want
