Image in chat

Hi everyone.

I see images in the chat quite regularly.    
But how can we put them directly in the chat?
And if I reply to an image it says something like "https://discordapp.com[...]".
Do I need to have discord?
If anyone knows how to put an image in the chat, I would be very grateful 🙂
