Stop treating rarity as the whole weapon decision. In the current July 2026 meta, a well-built Anvil can carry more successful extracts than a flashy weapon you cannot afford to feed or repair. I learned that after burning through my heavy ammo stash on Bettina runs with no backup plan. Good ARC Raiders BluePrints matter because they let you replace a reliable loadout after a bad raid instead of playing scared for three matches.
Anvil is still the safest weapon to bring into Expeditions

Anvil remains the practical S-tier choice because it does not force your squad into one type of fight. It handles Wasp and Hornet packs without feeling wasteful, has enough control to pressure Rocketeers at range, and still punches through medium ARC armor. The durability improvements are more noticeable on longer Expedition chains than in quick matches: you spend less time debating whether one more raid will break your best gun.
My preferred Anvil setup is Extended Barrel III, High-Capacity Magazine, and Stability Grip. The barrel gives it the reach needed for open areas, while the magazine prevents the ugly reload window that gets players caught during swarm pressure. Run light or medium ammo improvements and mobility-focused Aggression skills; Anvil feels far better when you can reposition after every burst.

1. Carry Wolfpack Grenades for Bastions, not for random drone packs.
2. Reload behind cover before pushing a damaged Rocketeer.
3. Keep one cheap secondary weapon for close-range panic situations.
When Bettina is the better investment

Bettina is the weapon I bring when the raid plan includes armored targets rather than general farming. The recent damage, dispersion, and armor-damage buffs turned it into a proper ARC killer, especially against Matriarchs and Turbine objectives. Its single-target output beats Anvil when your group is consistently hitting weak points, but it is less forgiving when players spray heavy ammo into armor plates.

Use Flanking Augment Mk3 and fight from a position where you can actually see the weak point. Bettina works best with a teammate carrying Hullcracker: the Hullcracker user keeps pressure on heavy targets while Bettina dumps accurate bursts into exposed sections. Solo players should be more cautious. Heavy ammo disappears fast, and a missed magazine feels much worse than it does on Anvil.
Weapons that are strong but easy to misuse

Renegade is great for players who rotate aggressively and hate standing still, while Bobcat remains nasty in close quarters if you know the map routes. Hullcracker is still the specialist pick for boss-focused teams, not an automatic answer for every Expedition. Kettle can work early, but investing scarce upgrades into it usually delays a stronger mid-game build.

Farm Trials Season 5 and high-value Expedition areas with a replacement plan, not just a loot plan. Save your rare materials for the weapon you use every raid, then buy missing pieces only when they unlock a real upgrade. Checking ARC Items for sale can help finish a stalled build, but ammo reserves and repair materials should still come first.
