Instrument Stacking is a feature for Online Sequencer that was added to the testing page on 5/2/2026, and added to the main site on 5/9/2026.

Instrument Stacking adds a new menu inside the advanced instrument options that allows you to add any instrument in a sequence to a "stack", playing the added instrument along with the instrument with stacking enabled.

Mixing

Instrument stacks mixing is inherited from the instruments selected.

Stacking Options

Offset

This option changes the octave played of the selected instrument within the stack be however many you select.

For instance, if you were to create a stack with the E-Piano instrument, if you set the Offset to "+1" it would play the E-Piano one octave higher than the source instrument with stacking enabled.

Delay

This option adds a delay between when the instrument with stacking enabled, and the stacked instrument are played.

For the delay, the options are:

  • 0
  • 1
  • 1/2
  • 1/3
  • 1/4
  • 1/6
  • 1/8
  • 1/12
  • 1/16

What this means is the grid size of the note between the stacking and stacked instrument.

For instance, if you were to select 1/2 it would have the same effect as if you were to play a note from the stacking instrument, and then place a note from the stacked instrument one note away on the 1/2 grid.

For the multiple, the options are:

  • x1
  • x2
  • x3
  • x4
  • x5
  • x6
  • x7
  • x8

What this does is take a note from the stacked instrument, and move it x grid size notes away.

Let's take our example from earlier.

If you were to now change the multiple of the 1/2 delay to 2x, that would make the stacked instrument note play 2 notes on the 1/2 grid apart from the stacking instrument.

When set to "0", the delay is disabled.

Useful Resources

Currently, there is one helpful resource for instrument stacking, providing a place for users to share their instrument stacks with other members of the Online Sequencer community through the forums.
