I didn't listen yet but modern music has a much stronger focus on bass and rhythms than the melody than it did in classical music, to the point where you canmake a song with just bass and druma

for me i started messing with making songs using the 8 bit and synth instruments since surprisingly a lot of "classical style" can work in electronic sounds with only a little adaptation, that was the gateway drug to expanding my style more. once i was okay at making both classical style stuff and 8-bit/synth stuff then i could try mixing in drums, guitar, bass, whatever and gradually get better at that over time. im still not great at drums but i've definitely broadened my music style substantially

idk basically just see what works for you and practice, hopefully there's something helpful somewhere in here

I would say just listen to some non-classical music and try arranging a non-classical song. You could also try messing with some different or syncopated rhythms
