Hi everyone
I want to start by thanking you all for being so welcoming, and for the nice things you've said about the features I've added to the site. You've been effusive with your praise, and actually this is what I wanted to talk about. I think it's gone a bit too far.
I don't want to single anyone out, so instead of quotes I'll just paraphrase some examples from the last few days:
"Liam cares about the site"
"Thanks Liam for adding all the new updates"
"Liam is a god"
Hopefully you can already see the problem. The whole OS team cares deeply about the site, and I'm not the only one adding things. When was the last time someone called Jacob or Fox a god? In the last month Jacob has added secret piano, panning, and Ogg exporting just to name a few, and Fox has added tons of features to Robo to make discord integration better.
More importantly, it takes a lot of effort, often unseen and thankless, to keep a site running for 7 years. Looking at the git history, Jacob has submitted an average of more than one change per week, including bug fixes and UI tweaks. These are the sorts of things that you would only notice if he stopped doing them, because the site would stop working. The same thing goes for Fox keeping Robo running, and the mods who keep the community the pleasant and friendly place it (usually) is.
There are few things more worthwhile than building tools for others to create art and I'm proud to be part of the team that helps you make music. But that's all I am here, one part of a larger team. So let's try to be considerate of the other members of team OS.
Thankyou <3
