I read Lucent's guide thing and I'm tryin to do that with cello and I can't get it to work. Still choppy af. Same for Violin, which he shows demonstrated in the guide and is sounds awful

It may be a problem with your device, sometimes conputers go all weird with the audio if there is too much info for it

Pseudo-sustaining is more of a support technique and sounds better when it works with other instruments in a sequence. Maybe stop fixating on the particular instrument and just work on making the song sound good as a whole.
