I'm tired of sitting at this cold hard desk
I wish someone would tell me where to go…
I'm ready to unspool from all this mess
Don't need no GPS, won't leave no note
Over branches, over meadows,
I would follow, I would listen
I'd run barefoot to the moonlight
In the river where it glistens
We'd fly past the empty meadows,
Scratched by branches - wouldn't matter-
I'd get used to chirping crickets
And to you calling out "faster"
Na na na na na na na na
Na na na na na na na
Na na na na na na na na na na, na na
Na na na na na na na na na
There's always something new to get to work on,
My thoughts are captives waiting to escape
Indistinct voices wonder where I've gone
If someone told them they'd just gasp and gape...
I'd be off-
Over mountains, in the deserts
By a barman, drinking warm mead!
In the greenest cemeteries
Of old Europe, where my folks are buried
Na na na na na na na na
Na na na na na na na
Na na na na na na na na na na, na na
Na na na na na na na na na
You'd cry "faster", I'd laugh harder;
Wouldn't backtrack, wouldn't falter...
But you're not there, and I'm not either,
'Cause I'd never ever dare to run away alone
Alone alone
Alone
Over branches, over meadows,
I would follow, I would listen
I'd run barefoot to the moonlight
In the river where it glistens
We'd fly past the empty meadows,
Scratched by branches - wouldn't matter-
I'd get used to chirping crickets
And to you calling out... "go"
Thanks for taking the time to read and possibly listen to this song! I would be very grateful to hear your thoughts and impressions.
