The Italians really were messing you over, so as someone who's been through guitar class I'll help you. Andante is a moderately slow tempo, but to make it sound fast you make eighth notes, which are two fast notes tied together.

This song's tempo is at 190 bpm which would normally be presto in your average Italian music notation. If you have this on sheet music it would be andante moderato, and all the fast notes would be subdivisions like eighths and sixteenths.
