I remember that feeling of finally getting to play as Knuckles for the first time (not counting the Sonic 3 racing multiplayer) and it was just a mind blowing concept. This zone was like... the beginning of the future of gaming to me. Lock-On Technology? wow! The lil nod to the Sonic 3 act 1 boss/Knuckles music in the drums is nice too.
There isn't much change between acts 1 and 2 in the melody. In fact, there's none at all. The only thing that really changes is the intro, and the drum patterns... unless you count the instrument changes for the lil synth fills.
