Also sorry if this wasn't what you were expecting. I try to make my references either hidden or not obvious at all.
Doing what Egoless got wrong. Sometimes it's ok to call back explicitly, but only if it truly adds to the music rather than subtracting from it.
A reference should improve upon a melody or use it to boost a new one, never just to have, always to improve.
