Tuned to a Dead Channel
"The sky above the port was the color of television, tuned to a dead channel." - Opening line, Neuromancer, by William Gibson
[With this title, it should be industrial or something. Oh well...]
The sax started as a piano figure (the genesis of the song). I replaced it, though the DNA of the original is in the piano notes near the end.
Feels grander in scope than some of my stuff but doesn't work perfectly. I didn't set out to create an overture for a concept album, but it has that of vibe (to me). 😂

----------------
✅ 05.17.2026 Melody note fix; simple bass; new section experiment; different time signature, shortened first section; shortened transition
✅ 05.18.2026 Flutes added, longer empty space after transition; staccato note fix; melody changes; expanded middle flute section; mixed melody lines from different sections at the end; extended "telegraph" notes b4 the section
✅ 05.19.2026 Tightened transitions, switched melody to Rhodes in parts, adjusted melodic notes; extended, modulated middle; harp, , cello added, duplicated short transition section; removed music box sounds; flute stack; electric piano (RHodes stack) adjustment; added syncopation to melody
✅ 05.20.2026 Radical melody line and chord changes, but it feels too rushed--might change again--change to stacked flute in places; saxophone reduction, violin reduction; tore down the beginning(!) and reworked it,... Further sax and bass changes; single harp notes added, which required flutes to be held a few beats longer
✅ 05.21.2026 Piano and sax adjust; changed chord on second instance of the opening riff; end section piano riff adjust; minimalized piano in the beginning;
✅ 05.22.2026 More changes 2 beginning; 808 drum; melody fixes; harp adjust; new koto stuff; vibraphone notes

@Yustoor Thank you, Much appreciated!
Yeah, intro feels kind of rushed, but still sounds great!

@Kater5551stars Thank you SO much! I appreciate that. I really went in the opposite direction and made it completely minimal in the first section. Going to work some more on this. It's messing with my head because that was the initial part of the song and the rest came after. Now I've abandoned the original concept. Thanks again.
