Behold the enchantment table of drums!
If you're struggling to make a beat, just go layer by layer adding in a single row's beat. Overlap these layers to almost autonomously make something good.
This also works with/is enhanced by merging different drums.
Another tip is you can also experiment with removing layers or specific spots from layers to improve variation.
You can get almost as complex as you want with it, just make sure to texture it right so that you're not predominantly hearing one sound/instrument.
You can even add two or three layers at a time if you want just make sure it's consistent.
