These are the list of (free) tools that I picked up along my journey these passed 6 years. Besides the general mixing/instrument tools that FLS11 gives me, this is a reference list of soundfonts, VSTS, and audio plugins.
This list also includes the instruments I mainly use.
SOUNDFONTS:
1. Sonatina Symphonic Orchestra [no longer available]
-Main use of strings, concert harp, flutes, and sometimes percussion.
2. 8bitsf
-Main use of piano 01, organs, bass 01, vibes, harpsichord, strings 01, and drums 01
3. Earthbound
-Main use of Marimba and sometimes "the past", still new to this one.
4. Galaxy Orchestra (not recommended)
-Main use of drum kit
5. LttPSF2 [a link to the past soundfont] (not recommended)
-never used/only checked out
6. Mario Party DS soundfont
-Main use of trombone (one of the best synthesized trombone sounds i've heard)
7. Paper Mario SF
-still new to usage, might use some of this later
8. SGM-V2.01
-main use of piano 1, 2, Honkytonk piano, acoustic bass, sines, vibraphones, still finding more use out of this vastly large soundfont.
9. SM64SF (not recommended)
-this soundfont can only have use to make mario 64 sounding stuff, not really interesting otherwise.
10. The_Ultimate Megadrive_Soundfont
- main use of square wave (the best square)
VST:
1. Piano1X - comes with 1 free instrument (highly non recommended)
2. tal-Noisemaker
-new to usage, several synth instruments. (similar to FLS Harmor)
3. fb3300
-new to usage, several synth instruments. (similar to FLS Harmless)
4. Keyzone Classic
-main use is keyzone piano, yamaha grand piano, and rhodes (this has a decent rhodes)
5. AGML2 (guitar emulation)
6. APC (drum synth instrument NOT PERCUSSION) (not recommended)
7. basic65 (difficult to explain)
-developed my own "high bass saw" which closely resembles LMMS NES Saw
-developed my own "triangular prism" which is a saw and triangle combined to sound similar to 8-bitSF harpsichord, these go good together.
AUDIO PLUGIN:
1. Ozone Imager [stereo widening]
2. Hysteresis [noise effect]
-new to usage
3. A1TriggerGate [sound step editing] - way too hard to explain.
