Due to the coronavirus, the March Monthly Contest will be cancelled. Additionally, the month of March will also be cancelled. Thank you for understanding.

I apologize for the shifting between e piano and grand piano; if I stack too much of either, the sound actually disappears at random points...
I hope this attempt at dynamics won't hurt the judgement too much.

not really sure if this qualifies as a waltz... i think it is?

All a rhythm needs to be a waltz is triple meter, usually written in 3/4. This track has that. You should be fine.
i'm pretty sure there's more than just a 3/4 time signature to a waltz.

Definition of waltz

1: a ballroom dance in ³/₄ time with strong accent on the first beat and a basic pattern of step-step-close

2: music for a waltz or a concert composition in ³/₄ time
Technically there is more to a waltz. Generally waltzes have a more classical approach to the chord progression. Also, the orchestration and arrangement for waltzes can be pretty specific. Other than that, it pretty much is just have a time signature of 3/4 with the accent on the first beat.

Mazurkas are 3/4 time, focus on the 2nd beat though. But it's not a waltz

honestly tbh genre is a lie, the contests are here for you to experiment more than being hard limitations of what you can and can't do (unless there are set limitations in the rules)

as long as you make something resemblant of the theme then you're good to go, some waltzes might be more waltzy than others/fuse with the personal tastes of the composer

at the end of the day you should improve on your personal skillset rather than trying to be able to replicate the exact genre of something with these contests, that's what i intended when i first started them
