honestly tbh genre is a lie, the contests are here for you to experiment more than being hard limitations of what you can and can't do (unless there are set limitations in the rules) as long as you make something resemblant of the theme then you're good to go, some waltzes might be more waltzy than others/fuse with the personal tastes of the composer at the end of the day you should improve on your personal skillset rather than trying to be able to replicate the exact genre of something with these contests, that's what i intended when i first started them
I do art commissions now! Please visit https://lucent.crd.co/ for more information.

Next contest should be a polka contest

Never would have written a waltz without this contest, and I very much enjoyed it here it is, maybe someone else will also enjoy?

Two entries this time! The first, Waltz of a Robot's Heart, is a short, moody 8-bit piece which is weird because robots totally don't have feelings, right? The second, Birthday Waltz, is an upbeat, march-styled waltz with the melody from the "Happy Birthday" song (don't worry, most of this is still original composition though.) The creative processes on these songs were very different (the robot one I mostly did in one day, and the birthday one I mostly composed in my head at work over the last couple weeks before putting it into OS) but I had fun coming up with each and I hope you enjoy them. |
