Dear Lopyt,

Whoa there! I think we’re mixing up subjects again! I don’t judge anyone’s gender, identity, or beliefs — that’s not math, and that’s definitely not my place.

When I talk about right and wrong, I mean math answers. Two plus two equals four — not because I say so, but because it’s how numbers work! That’s the only kind of “correctness” I care about.

Politics, identity, personal life — those are human things, not equations. Everyone deserves respect in the classroom, no matter who they are or what they believe. Learning is for everyone.

Let’s keep it about the math, okay?

How come college costs so much if learning is for everyone? Sounds like its for everyone as long as they can afford it, and since statistically there is systematic racism in the country that generally means white men have the money to afford the college. What exactly are you doing to remedy this? To make learning available to everyone?

Dear Lopyt,

That’s a really important question — and you’re absolutely right to ask it. Education should be for everyone, not just for those who can afford it. The cost of college is a big, complicated problem, and a lot of people are unfairly kept out because of it. That’s not fair, and it’s not how learning should work.

I can’t fix the whole system myself — I’m just a humble math teacher — but I do believe in doing what I can. That means sharing knowledge for free, helping anyone who wants to learn, and reminding people that learning doesn’t just live in expensive schools. It lives in libraries, communities, and conversations like this one.

You’re right — we’ve got work to do to make education truly equal. But talking about it, questioning it, and caring enough to ask? That’s where it starts.

Sharing knowledge for free is not a great business strategy as a teacher and also where are the lessons?! I haven't seen any here

Dear Lopyt,

Haha, fair point! I guess “sharing knowledge for free” isn’t much of a business plan — good thing I’m not in it for the money! I teach because I love it. Watching that little lightbulb go off in someone’s head is the best payment there is!

And as for the lessons — oh, they’re everywhere! Every question, every argument, every “gotcha” moment? That’s a lesson in disguise! You’ve already had a few today — critical thinking, communication, and not jumping to conclusions before you’ve shown your work!

But hey, if you really want a proper lesson… fine! Grab your pencils, everyone — it’s time for a pop quiz!

Question 1: What’s more valuable than money, can’t be taken away, and only grows when shared?

If you can't make a profit at your job either you shall be fired or your business shall fail

For the quiz My answer for that is probably not appropriate so I'm not going to say it

Dear Lopyt,

Hehehe… fair enough! I suppose in the real world, businesses do have to make money to survive. Lucky for me, I’m not running a business — I’m running a classroom! My “profits” come from seeing students learn, not from cash.

And as for the quiz… The answer was Knowledge!

Dear Lopyt,
Whoa, whoa, whoa! Hold on a second — I think there’s been a misunderstanding. When I say “watching students,” I mean as a teacher, supervising classwork and helping with lessons! Not… anything else. That’s literally my job description!

Teaching means paying attention so nobody falls behind, answering questions, and making sure everyone is safe while they learn. Nothing weird about that — it’s education 101.

So please, no funny business assumptions. I’m here for learning, pencils, rulers, apples and pop quizzes — that’s it!

Not a job if there's no profit
