12/12/2024: On The Beaten Path is the third adaptation of a song I had written to resemble a forest theme. I wanted to capture that classic "Level 1" vibe that you get immediately exiting a tutorial, where the whole world is yours to explore after being limited up until that point.
I chose instrumentation such as strings, flutes, and mallets to fit the forest environment, while using orchestral hits, choir, and brass to highlight important, grandiose moments, and add a bit of variation.
The drum beat is rather odd for the majority of the song, with the snare being on the and of 2, instead of on beat 2. It gives the song a bit of a "skipping" feel instead of a walk. The only time this changes is in the section near the end of the song, just before the loop.
