12/12/2024: Cascade Falls was inspired by the great David Wise, specifically the song Stickerbrush Symphony. I really dug into his style, and even went so far as to look at interviews where he explains his process for atmospheric sounding songs. The goal was to create a song that could be dynamically used for a jungle/water environment, making a waterfall the perfect choice.
I wanted it to be half synthetic and half orchestral, and be completely unconventional when it comes to jungle music. It utilizes harpsichord and steelpans for the repetitive melodies that overlay the entire song (a trick borrowed from David Wise), with synths and strings playing the simple, easy-to-digest chords, growing much more layered and rich in the chorus. I used 2 acoustic MIDI drum kits for the chorus, and detuned them wayyyy up to create the sound effects you hear.
Overall, the result is a highly textured, lush-to-bursting song that dramatically fades in and out as you arrive to and leave the falls, before returning to the main jungle theme (hence the open drum section at the start and end).
