"Devil's Advocate" was inspired by my relationship with my brother. We're about as close as can be, yet I often feel like he'll take the contrary side in almost any conflict I find myself in, large or small, and sometimes I just want to say, "Dude, you can't honestly think I'm in the wrong *all* the time". What it mostly boils down to is that he hates conflict. I don't love it, but I prefer it to staying silent when I think that something needs to be addressed. So I might end up getting into a disagreement, or just start venting about something, and my brother just wants to talk me down. But his way of trying to talk me down is usually to point out the other side of the situation-- which I'm fully capable of seeing myself. And he doesn't seem to get that the way to make me *less* upset is to just let me vent for a couple of minutes, and not make me feel like he's taking the other side. Every once in a while, it'd just be nice to hear "Yeah, you have a point". Anyway, enough about that. When all is said and done, my brother is my best friend, and I love him more than anything on earth.
Just, like, back me up every once in a while, man lol.
If you're interested in hearing it, there's a slightly remixed version with vocals at the Dropbox link below.
