This song was created in 2022 for 50/90, which is an online songwriting challenge with that goal of getting people to try to write 50 songs in 90 days (July 4-September 30). Now, I work slowly to begin with, so I had no hope of reaching 50 songs to begin with. Then, on top of that, I spent the summer of 2022 dealing with one parent injuring their leg, and the other one in and out of the hospital for surgery. When I did end up with free time, working on music was the last thing I felt like doing, and it wasn't until the end of September that I finally got this one in just under the wire. I had one song to show for my 50/90, but it was one I was really happy with. I don't do a lot of instrumentals, but this one felt to me like it stood on its own and didn't need lyrics. This might be my favorite OS creation so far.
For a few weeks I couldn't come up with a title that I liked for it, until one night it came up on my mp3 player while I was driving through some of the thickest fog I'd ever seen. By the time the song was over, it had a name: "Nightdrive".
