Overlord From an Olden Era ~ Dino Dynast (Fanmade Touhou 20 Extra Boss Theme)
This is the theme of the fully-formed version of the boss from:
.
Here's the stage theme:

This theme you're listening to right now is also the first of the three that I made, so it might sound a lil bit different than the ones linked above!
A long, long time ago, there lived a tyrannosaur that just couldn't be defeated. No claws, horns or even the forces of nature could take her off her feet. She helped resolve disputes between dinos, siding most often with the dinosaur she liked the most. The dinos saw this as a win-win: conflicts rarely emerged around her, and she got to eat.
This balance eventually ended after an asteroid leveled the entire area. Barely scathed by the blast, she wandered around the ravaged lands in search of anything that lives, anything that could satiate her ever growing hunger. However, the asteroid had reduced everything to ashes. Starvation eventually overtook her, after which she got buried.
As she sank deeper into the earth, its power fossilized her remains and crystallized her soul, leaving behind a crystal called a "Stone Cherry". The fossils and the crystal then ended up beside the Underworld, where it would slowly absorb spirits that passed too close to the earth it resided in.
Millions of years later, the soul became powerful enough to kind of “reincarnate”, forming a human body and returning the mind of the tyrannosaur to that body. She then terrorized the Human Village, killing and eating a handful of its residents. After coming to her senses, she ravaged through the nearby forest. This ravaged path is then followed by the player character, trying to find the culprit who had caused this disruption.
After a bit of banter and a long but surprisingly friendly battle, the player character finds out that this culprit was merely hungry and confused, and is eager to learn the new customs and novelties of the world that had once left her behind.

I love the taiko drums in it, how did you do that?

I used a combination of drums that have a lot of low frequencies, but also have a clear high tone to them, just like a Taiko. Bass Drum is low, Timpani is high, so I combined those two, tweaked them to make them more Taiko-esque and less Bass Drum + Timpani, cloned and panned them left and right so they sound more full, and added a short "impact note" at the base of each Taiko note so you can hear each hit clearer! It looks like a big process, but most of it was just trial and error lol
@Buncha_Cats: Basically, to make a "new instrument", you'll need to find the most important parts of how the instrument sounds (low or high, clear or raspy, etc.) and try to find those qualities in the OS instruments. After a bit of tweaking (and a bit more than a bit of patience lol) you’ll end up with a combo that sounds nothing like the original instruments you used and kind of becomes its own instrument! Having a clear reference of the instrument you want to copy is also advised! Hope this helps! :D
@Buncha_Cats: And sorry for the wall of text lololol
I like how it perfectly captures ZUN's style, especially for the modern windows Touhou games
