This is an OS version of a song I wrote and recorded way back in 1991. It was so long ago that sometimes I forget and think that I wrote it about the first girl I was ever in love with, and then I remember that I wrote it a year before I even met her. So it isn't about an actual relationship, it was just my attempt to write a break-up song before I'd ever actually had a significant break-up.
What makes this song kind of unique in my catalogue is that it was written, and originally performed, on an acoustic guitar. Only, I don't play guitar. I don't mean I don't play guitar much, or I don't play guitar often, I mean *I don't play guitar*. But for a while in the early '90s, a friend had left a beat-up acoustic guitar at my house, and I managed to record a handful of songs on it in that time. This was probably the best one, not that that means it was that good. The guitar was probably missing at least one string, and it wasn't tuned properly. For this song, I tuned it to the base chord I needed and just pressed my thumb across the neck to change chords. Nothing was done the right way, but I still got a song that I liked out of it. There's something to be said for doing things the wrong way. Sometimes, you end up doing things that people who get hung up on doing things the 'right' way would never come up with.
