TITLE
i finally made that last Op. 64-like waltz
five months. five months.
05/20/2026 (I started this on December 18 of last year. In that time, I have completed Scherzo-Fantaisie, an Étude, a Nocturne, 6 Préludes, 2 other Op. 8 Waltzes, and two movements of a F**KING SONATA—)
Waltz in A Major, Op. 8, No. 1 (from 4 Waltzes, Op. 8)
a waltz that sounds kinda like Op. 64, No. 3
This is actually the last piece in a series I unofficially started where I make knockoff versions of Chopin's Op. 64. They're not really knockoffs, but it's just so obvious which pieces inspired them. It started back in October just after Op. 5, No. 5 (
). I realized that one was inspired by Op. 64, No. 1, and my first ever piece (
) was inspired by Op. 64, No. 2. So I thought why not do one for Op. 64, No. 3? And since those other 2 took less than 3 months to finish, I figured this one would be a piece of cake.
I was wrong.
I made the mistake of starting it in the middle of working on Scherzo-Fantaisie, so I was too caught up on that to pay much attention to it. I kinda forgot about it for a while, so I had some other random bursts of creativity (Étude Op. 3, No. 5; Waltz Op. 8, No. 4; many of the Préludes Op. 6, etc.). It's the same reason why Op. 8, No. 2 took almost 3 months. I need to start paying more attention to my WIP folder.
And since there are only 4 Op. 8 Waltzes, there's only one more to finish.
